6 Tips on Becoming a Morning Person

Starting your morning off right can have a huge effect on the rest of your day. There are a bunch of small things that you can do in your morning in order to boost your overall mood and energy. Here are a few habits to integrate into your morning in order to ensure your day goes as well as possible.

1. Get a good night rest

This tip involves some planning before your morning begins. Make it a priority to sleep on time, and to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Make a fixed time for when you’ll get to bed every night.

2. Wake up an hour early

Break the habit of getting out of bed just early enough to quickly get ready and go to work, school, or any other commitment you have. This can make you feel rushed, and won’t allow you time to get a hold on your day. Waking up with enough time to do the tips mentioned below will enable you to get a strong start on the rest of your day.

3. Don’t check your phone first thing

We tend to have a habit of immediately checking our phone first thing in the morning. Try to break this habit, because it can make you a lot less productive. We often get caught up on checking what notifications we may have, and this takes away from the time we can use more beneficially. Instead of checking your phone, try to stand up and do something else, like meditating or stretching.

4. Get hydrated

After freshening up a bit, drink 2 full glasses of water. You’re usually dehydrated after a long night’s rest, so drinking water can give your body the boost it needs.

5. Make a healthy breakfast

Waking up early allows you to have the time to prepare a proper breakfast. Eating a good breakfast provides you with energy to start off your day. Make smart decisions about your breakfast; avoid high carb and sugary items and opt for something healthier. Eggs, protein shakes, and sugar free coffee, for example, are a great place to start.

6. Make your bed

This one doesn’t sound that profound but making your bed can definitely have a positive impact on your day. Making your bed every morning can jump start your productivity for the day, help you feel better organized, give you a sense of accomplishment, and can even act as a de-stressor.
