One aspect that we encourage greatly at the Mindful Living Institute is the consumption of a variety of supplements. Supplements include vitamins, minerals, herbals and botanicals, amino acids, enzymes, and many more substances. These supplements can also be taken in a bunch of different ways, whether it be in the form of a pill or even injections.
Supplements are needed for exactly what their name is; To supplement your nutrients. Many people don’t get a sufficient amount of nutrients from their day to day lives. Supplements can help many hit their daily checkpoints for their nutrients. It’s important to note, however, that supplements should never be taken as a complete replacement for certain food groups. One should be trying their best to gain as much of their nutrients through food as possible.
Before taking any supplements, one should always look into what exactly the supplement is/contains. Remember that most supplements are not FDA regulated or supported, be wary of these supplements. Supplements also often cause side effects, even when needed. Be aware of these effects and whether you will be able to handle them or not. Also, make sure you take only supplements that are necessary for you. There is such a thing as over consuming nutrients, and it is definitely detrimental to your health.
It’s also important to consider how various supplements will react with other medications you may be on. This is something that should be discussed with your doctor. Talk to them about what supplements may be helpful for you, what side effects they may entail, and dosages that you should take them at.
