Less is More: Insulin vs. Glucagon

Both insulin and glucagon are hormones made by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar. When we eat too many carbohydrates such as: breads, pastas, pastries, fruit juices, ect we secrete more insulin. More insulin causes the storage of fat and ultimately makes us tired and ready for a nap. Alternatively, the hormone glucagon is secreted when we reduce carbohydrate intake. Higher levels of glucagon cause fat storages to be used for energy. For weight loss purposes, we want to reduce the carbohydrate intake, increase glucagon levels, and as a result burn more fat.
